SAM CLAWSON SELECTED FOR INCLUSION IN THE 24TH EDITION OF THE BEST LAWYERS IN AMERICA


Sam Clawson has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 24th edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in insurance law.


Clawson served as managing partner at Clawson and Staubes, LLC from 1989 to 2016. Under his leadership, the firm grew from three attorneys to over 35 attorneys and from one office in Charleston, to offices in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and Charlotte, North Carolina. Clawson has tried numerous cases each year since 1980 for an array of different insurers. A certified mediator, he has been active in the tort defense of individuals, partnerships and corporations.


Currently, his primary focus is mediations and focus groups. He has been featured in the national edition of Lawyers Weekly and has made presentations explaining an innovative method of dispute resolution to the New York Trial Lawyers Association and to the California State Bar.


Sam has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumni at Campbell University and currently serves on the Presidential Advisory Board. Additionally, he formerly served on the Board of Advisors for the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. Sam was also recognized by Best Lawyers for “Lawyer of the Year” last year, as well as in 2013.

While in law school, Ryan served as an Associate Editor and Senior Student Notes and Comments Editor for the Appalachian Natural Resources Law Jo urnal, he was a member of the national moot court team taking best preliminary round advocate at the Pace National Environmental Moot Court Competition, and served as a teaching assistant for appellate advocacy. Ryan was a member of Phi Delta Phi, a legal honor society, and served as a assistant high school soccer and wrestling coach. Ryan further served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Thomas E. Clawson and Staubes is pleased to announce that Brittany Boykin and Kyle Thompson have joined the firm.Brittany has joined the Charleston office and Kyle has joined our Greenville office. Brittany has joined the firm’s insurance defense section, where she practices in the areas of personal injury defense and premises liability. She represents insurance companies, individuals, and businesses in South Carolina courts regarding these matters. Kyle practices in the areas of insurance defense, construction law, and commercial litigation. He joins Clawson and Staubes after working in another Greenville firm for eleven years. Kyle focuses primarily on defending lawsuits alleging personal injury and property damage.
